The Department of Soil Resources Management was a component of the defunct Department of Agronomy, the first of its kind in Nigeria and a major supplier of high-level manpower in the fields of Crop, Soil, and Horticultural Sciences to government, non-governmental, research, and educational institutions in the country. The Department was created to specialize in the following fields: Soil Fertility/Testing, Soil Physics and Conservation, Soil Chemistry/Mineralogy, Soil Microbiology, Soil Survey/Pedology, Agrometeorology, and Agricultural Mechanization. The Department has world-renowned academics who have made indelible marks in their respective areas of specialization.
This prospectus has been thoughtfully created to provide students with guidance during their time at the university and to help them succeed academically. To give students appropriate direction at every stage of their programmes. The Department's history, philosophy, and goals are all explained in detail, and the courses required for each programme.
Programmes offered by the Department at all levels include B. Agric., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. Courses and requirements for students are clearly defined to help them achieve excellence.
